• How to Start?

If you have read some of the other pages on this site, you may be thinking this all sounds great, but how do I eat Mila? How do I get my kids to eat it? One of the great things about Mila is that it doesn’t have a smell or taste and is easy to add into almost anything you eat. Here are some tips on incorporating Mila into your diet:

    1. Start out eating 1 Tablespoon a day (1/2 a scoop)
    2. Kids can start with 1 Teaspoon
    3. Drink an extra 8 ounces or more of water (it has 5 grams of fiber per full scoop)
    4. You may notice Mila fills you up due to the fact that it is so nutrient dense
    5. Try pre-hydrating Mila (more on this below)
    6. After a week of 1 Tablespoon you are ready for a full scoop (2TBL)
    7. To experience all the wonderful positive health benefits of Mila commit to a consistent 30 day trial

Here is a great video that shows you how to make Mila Fresca:

Ideas to get you experimenting in the kitchen:

    1. Kids won’t notice Mila at all when used in baking, pancakes or waffles (just throw a scoop in your batter)
    2. I put a spice shaker full of Mila at the table so we can sprinkle it onto our food (the kids pretend it’s pepper)
    3. My favorite way is to mix a scoop into a glass of coconut water, but try it in your favorite beverage
    4. Blend into yogurt, oatmeal, hummus, cottage cheese, or any nut butter
    5. Add Mila or pre-soaked Mila (see below) directly to a smoothie and blend away
    6. Mix into pizza sauce, pasta sauce, rice, quinoa or other grains

I hope this gives you a better understanding of Mila and some ideas to get you started. Please share your favorite way to eat Mila below.

    How to pre-hydrate Mila:

Mila is very absorbent and can hold 9:1 water ratio. It is very beneficial and more hydrating for your body to consume pre-soaked Mila, but not necessary. If drinking Mila, stir 1 scoop in 1-2 cups of water and let pre-soak for at least 15 minutes and up to 24-hours. Experiment with this ratio, depending on what you want. Pre-soaking Mila enhances the bio-availability of all of Mila’s nutrients (including fiber), it hydrates the lower GI and decreases removal of H2O from the GI. Pre-soaking may also eliminate bloating and stomach discomfort that some may experience.

One Responseso far.

Soak a scoop of Mila in chocolate milk, just enough to cover it, and let it sit for an hour. Then grab a spoon and eat it like chocolate pudding!
