Healthy, clean, energy bars for athletes, moms, and children! Thanks to Laura Stout, my business partner. She eats these before her sports and they really give her the energy she needs to go strong. I was excited to try them as a grab and go snack for myself and as a “treat” for the boys. Store bought granola or power bars are not only expensive, but full of fillers like soy protein, sugar and things I can’t pronounce. I followed the basic recipe below, using almonds, cashews, and pistachio nuts. Then I added cranberries, hemp seeds, and coconut in addition to the other ingredients. We didn’t have 16 dates; I only used 8 and halved the Mila so they wouldn’t be too dry. I will definitely be eating one before kick boxing today!
1 c walnuts
2 c rolled oats
15 dates (pitted)
1/2 c non sweetened apple sauce
1/4 c coconut oil
1/2 c of dried fruit whatever you like
8 scoops Mila
Put all ingredients in a food processor and then put in a 13×9 pan and pat it down so it is all even and then cook at lowest temp on your oven. Mine is at 170 degrees for 2 hours. This basically just dehydrates them. Then cut into 8 bars. You can also of course substitute whatever nuts you want if you don’t like almonds or walnuts.
